How Do I Get More Traffic?
I have been asked by a few clients about website traffic. They want more of it and I’m trying to tell them they don’t. They want more business. People buying. Traffic will just give you a headache. As people talk to me, they mention SEO. I then hold my head in my hands and tell them the difference between SEO and sharing knowledge. SEO is about numbers. SEO works. SEO will give you traffic and get you to #1 on Google. Sharing Knowledge, will provide searchers with answers. If you provide an answer to your market, you will gain the right attention to convert into business. Share...

Check out the fear loaded advice from Joellyn Sargent who appears to have written or shared (it’s not made clear) an ‘Open Letter To Teens‘ on socialmediatoday.com. Does she not realise that in 10-15yrs time, that the Internet isn’t going to be functioning the way it is now? And… businesses who will (stupidly) be wasting their time by Googling employees searching for ‘perfect angels’ are going to incredibly disappointed at having to turn away decent workers for something they did a decade ago! Is she mad? Or just not thinking enough? Check out this...

Blog regularly, make it quick, make it personal & be opinionated. This is the advice I give to others, but have failed to follow myself. Why? Because I’m like the Window Cleaner with the dirtiest windows in the street. Or the Car Mechanic that scoots about in an old wreck. However I have completely forgotten to keep my own house in order. Why? Well probably for the same reason that you...

This one about community managers floats my boat, as it gives a tiny indication of how far a role penetrates into a company… rather than just assuming it’s the job of Marketing or Customer Service. 28% of participants said community...

We all fall in to one or more of these categories: If we are in a position of knowledge, we need to work on our personalities to leverage social audiences. If we have access to audiences, we need to work with content creators to show off how great our spaces are. If we are entrepreneurs, we need to demonstrate our knowledge so we can be taken seriously by our peers. If we are producers, we need to work with venue owners in order to present and distribute our content. Read more about my perspective on your business approach on...

Socialcast has a great blog about the future of work… filled with goodness designed to inspire your brains. Take a look and decide for yourself. The post that grabbed my attention was about the Mobile Workforce. Something dear to my heart, as I deal a lot with people either having the sole role of social media in a company or, have a social space that is dire because no-one else is contributing to it. When in fact, because of the feature rich tech we carry in our pockets, we’re all capable of producing so much. People don’t seem to be aware of: 1) features, 2) opportunities...
